As in the past three years, the 2014  “Get the Carp Outta Here” Tournament will be paying out prize money for the biggest & the most carp caught—and like the tournament this past May, next year we will continue the tagged carp component.

For those of you who remember the Crappiethon of old, the same principal applies– pull in a tagged carp and win $100.  We are hoping to line up 30 or more sponsors for the tagged carp. This year we had 21 sponsored tagged carp.  The more tagged carp in the contest, the bigger the potential prize total and the more folks we are hoping to draw to GLSM.  The Committee is currently seeking tagged carp sponsors.  Sponsors will be listed in all of the tournament’s advertising and printed material.

The tournament will be May 16-18, 2014.  If your fish is caught, we will notify you so that, if you want, you can present the check to the winner at the tournament wrap party on the18th.  The cost to sponsor a tagged carp is $100. We are seeking pledges now and your business will be invoiced in March, 2014 for the prize money.

We are working on this so early as we want to print the promotional brochure in December—with the sponsor names included– in order to distribute then at the Sports, Vacation & Boat Shows we will be attending in January and February.  If you’d like to sponsor a carp you can call the CVB office at 419-394-1294 or send an e-mail to SeeMore@bright.net.  Please feel free to call if you have any questions.

The LRC has identified rough fish removal as one component of the plan to help improve the water of Grand Lake St. Marys.  Bringing tournament participants to the lake is a great way to showcase the improvement efforts that are taking place.  Thank you for your consideration on supporting this event.
