Auglaize & Mercer Counties CVB Director Donna Grube was elected president of Ohio Byway Links (OBL) organization at the group's annual meeting last week in Cambridge, Ohio. The Ohio Byway Links organization is a coalition of Ohio-designated byways interested in promoting travel & tourism, economic development, and preservation of their byway's amenities. Ohio Byway Links began in 1999 and has worked with the ODOT byways coordinator to introduce and share ideas for the management of the byways.
Grube said she is honored to serve the organization and added that with two byways in the local area it is important to make sure we continue to promote the wonderful road trip possibilities in Auglaize & Mercer Counties. There are currently 27 byways in Ohio, although all are not active in travel & tourism promotion. Active byways include Lincoln Highway, Amish Country Byway, Ohio's National Road, Ohio River Scenic Byway, the Miami & Erie Canal Scenic Byway and the Land of the Cross-Tipped Churches Scenic Byway. Grube added that OBL serves as a great conduit for sharing and support among the many byways across the state. As organization president Grube will also serve on the ODOT Scenic Byway Advisory Committee.
