World Champion Hydroplane Driver Tony Black (LIA Meeting)

Feel the need… for speed?
Meet hydroplane driver Tony Black – a six-time national champion and world champion who pilots one of the fastest boats in the sport – at the April 2026 Lake Improvement Association meeting, to be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 4, at the Celina Moose.
Tony will share stories from the racing circuit and what it’s like behind the wheel at extreme speeds. He’s also bringing a boat so you can see what these incredible machines look like up close.
Tony will be accompanied by Scott Anderson, a former driver and longtime member of the Governor’s Cup Regatta committee. The Governor’s Cup Regatta will be held on June 20-21, 2026 at Grand Lake St. Marys, and will host the Eastern Divisional Championships, drawing drivers from all over the United States and Canada. It’s one of only two title events on the eastern half of the U.S.
The meeting will also feature lake improvement updates, water quality updates, and state park updates.
The public is invited and encouraged to attend, and doughnuts and coffee will be available as refreshments.
