The Lake Improvement Association has named Gayle Meyer Guardian of the Lake for 2012. Each year the LIA recognizes a person who has been a strong ally and supporter of Grand Lake St. Marys.

Many nominees were considered, and Gayle was chosen because of her tireless efforts to provide help, organize, and run many of the projects the LIA is invovled in. Gayle is directly responsible for the success of the annual LIA Kids Fishing Derby, and a major reason why the Bar Stool Open has continued to be an event that is a major fundraiser for the LIA. Gayle has also been instrumental in the Carp Derby. Grand Lake St. Marys and the Lake Improvement Association are fortunate to have Gayle, a true Guardian of the Lake.
