The Grand Lake Marathon will make its debut on the shores of Grand Lake St. Marys in September 2014. The event promises to be one of the biggest draws on the lake and will feature a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, and Full Marathon.
There will also be kids and seniors marathons in which participants can track their run/walk progress in the month leading up to the race, then finish the final mile at the event.
The Grand Lake Marathon is currently in planning stages, said organizer Rocketship Sports Management, a Greenville-based all-volunteer non-profit organization. Soon, a website will be unveiled and more information will be publicly available. A single loop around Grand Lake St. Marys provides a unique marathon experience that will be a draw to many runners.
