Mercer County Historical Society President Joyce Alig is requesting stories about the West Bank on Grand Lake St. Marys. She writes:

West Bank Road has become quite a topic of conversation of local stories.  The people who grew up fishing along West Bank Road, vacationing at the Cottages, and eating at the restaurants, are recalling the Local Stories about the history of West Bank Road.   Over the years, I have written about sites and included photographs, or old post cards, on West Bank Road.

And now, with the destruction of some of the buildings on West Bank, the chatter about the history of West Bank has attracted the attention of the media.

The list of businesses on West Bank Road, in the year of 1970, will be of interest to the readers who remember the 1960’s and 1970’s.

If you readers appreciate the work that the Mercer County Historical Society does, in the preservation of the history of West Bank Road, as a part of Mercer County’s History, will you help the Historical Society by sharing your stories of West Bank Road?

Please email me your stories, or write me a letter, about your memories of West Bank Road.  The only way that these Local Stories will be preserved, is if you share your memories with the Mercer County Historical Society.

If you have old post cards, you are invited to show them, when we have an exhibit of old post cards on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the Mercer County Historical Museum.
