LIA Executive Board Meeting

Celina Moose Lodge Minutes:

Tim Lovett welcomed everyone to the board meeting.

Tim Lovett gave news to the Membership that ­­­­­——– past board member recently passed away.

Tim Lovett gave the treasurers report.

Tim Lovett reported on the Motown Dance. Tim said the dance went well and received many good comments. He said the LIA has booked the same band for next year and will be held February 27th 2016.

Tim Lovett reported on the upcoming LIA golf Tournament. Tim said the tournament is an 8am shotgun start on June 27th. Tim asked the membership to sign up if they want to be a hole sponsor

Dave Eyink updated the membership on the membership renewals that recently went out. Dave said the board sent the card to everyone and hopes folks will renew their membership once they get their renewal card. Dave asked the membership to find new members to help the organization grow.

Tim Lovett talked about the Casino Night that was held on March 21st. Tim thanked Romers and the Celina Lakefest Committee for their help in hosting the event. Tim said the event netted around $1600 for the night.

Milt Miller gave the LRC report. Milt said he is working to design and propose an island option to help rid of some of the waste from the dredges. He noted on several projects that he is working on around the lake like Coldwater Creek, Beaver Creek and Chickasaw Creek.

Brian Miller gave the Lake Update. He said the lake is 8.5 inches above the notch in the spillway. He noted that campers are beginning to arrive and fishing is good. Brian said he began opening up some facilities around the lake and more will be opened as spring continues. Brian reminded folks to check their boat registrations, dock fees, and safety equipment. Brian updated the members on the upcoming playground installation on the East Bank. Brian said he is still looking for seasonal help for the state park and asked the membership to tell folks who may be interested to apply.

Tom Grabow updated the membership on the current dredging situation. He said the dredges are moving along and getting ready for the year. Tom explained his plans for locations to dredge and put waste from them. Tom said he is hiring 4 people for St. Marys and Lake Loremie he noted that the last job posting will be today and the effort to hire more people is a result of a more aggressive dredging plan.

Abby Tobe spoke about the upcoming Lake Cleanup day to be held on April 25th. She said the group is to meet at the East Bank, West Bank boat launch or Windy Point. Abby said she is working on the Rain Barrel Program that is being held this coming Thursday at 8. She explained that the programs intent is to teach about the use of rain barrels.

Terry Mescher gave the Soil and Water update. Terry said construction has started and concrete is being poured at several work sites around the lake. Terry announced an upcoming Farm Tour where folks can get on a bus and tour farms and other sites around the lake to see the progress he is making. Terry also said he is planning a similar tour for some college students to come tour the lake.

Tim Lovett talked about the issues going on at Buckeye Lake near Columbus and the dam that has recently been determined unsafe and at risk of failure. Tim explained the potential perils of the dam failure and the amount of people it will affect. Tim said folks should watch the news regarding the funding for the dam fix. Tim also spoke about Senate Bill 150 that was signed Thursday by the governor. Tim said the enforcement has changed to the ODA from ODNR which can deal with violations of the bill more effectively.

Dave Eyink drew the winner of the 50/50.
