Board Members Present: President Tim Lovett, Sgt. of Arms Dave Eyink, Secretary Eric Morris, Trustees Tom Rampe, Seth Brigham, Brian Morris, Nick Rentz. Absent were: Vice President Mark Piening Treasurers Ted and Diane Bertke Trustees: Stan Wilker & Jeff Vossler.
Tim Lovett welcomed everyone and led the pledge of allegiance.
President Lovett gave the treasurers report: Tim reported the checkbook balance is $35314.75
Brian Morris spoke about the playground set that the LIA purchased to improve an area of the lake that doesn’t currently have a playground set. Tim Lovett announced that The St. Marys Community Foundation and The Minster Bank have each donated $1000 to help pay for the materials to install the playground. Tim said that the LIA will be looking for volunteers to help put it together when spring comes around.
Tim Lovett announced the Motown on the Lake that is to be held on February 28th. Tim noted that the band is exceptional by hitting on some of the highlights of the event.
Tim Lovett updated the membership on the ongoing maintenance of the Airy Gators that will, once fixed, be donated to help clean up channels in the lake.
Tim Lovett spoke about the “Grand Lake” ad that will be put in the traveler’s guide given out by the CVB. He showed the ad and explained what is being done to promote it.
Tom Rampe updated the membership on the Board Elections. He informed the membership that the election committee’s slate of all current board members and Nick Rentz were unopposed in this year’s elections. Tom made the motion to accept the results of the election by acclimation the motion was seconded and passed unanimously. Tim Lovett introduced Nick Rentz who stepped up and filled the open trustee slot.
Milt Miller updated the membership on some projects that he is working on involving grants and building treatment trains in several areas around the lake. He announced that the Prairie Creek Treatment Train is finished and noted the new features of the area.
Brian Miller gave the Lake Update. Brian said that the lake is currently around 6” below pool but would like to get it at 9” for the rest of the winter. Brian noted that there is free fire wood by the dog park available to the public on a first come first serve basis. Brian spoke about some vandalism that the park incurred over the past few months he asked the membership to report anything out of the ordinary. Brian reflected on the past year by speaking about the updates and renovations that his office has done throughout the year. Some things he mentioned were the electric sites added to the camp grounds, linear aeration project, oil derrick reclamation project, updates to the shelter houses along the east bank, and events like the Annual Fishing Derby and Grand Lake Marathon. He spoke about some projects his office will be undertaking for 2015.
Francis Springer gave members the SWCD update. Francis spoke about a manure application that is being investigated and asked that members report other violations. She noted that the SWCD is finishing up projects for the year and spoke about some upcoming things they will be doing. Francis said that if people are seeing problems to call Terry Mescher or Francis Springer at 614-395-6210 or 419-234-4678 respectively.
Tim Lovett gave the membership some insight on some things that the LIA will be helping out with in 2015. Tim mentioned that the LIA will be helping the Lake Fest Committee and the Regatta Committee with some things to help them make their events more successful. He also spoke about a Casino Night with a tentative date in April and a Bands on the Beach event to be held in June.
Tim Lovett noted that there will not be a Membership Meeting in January of 2015 then opened the floor for questions and comments.
Dave Eyink drew the winner of the 50/50.
