Opening: The meeting commenced with the president leading the attendees in reciting the pledge of allegiance.

Financial Report by Ted Burtke:

  • Checkbook balance stands at $43,296.
  • St Marys foundation holds $8,400.
  • Net income for January amounted to $11,114, attributed to membership renewals and new memberships.

Membership Information:

  • Membership has shown an increase compared to the same time last year, with 75% comprising renewals.

Pontoon Raffle:

  • The boathouse is conducting a raffle for a 2024 Avalon VLS pontoon.
  • 400 tickets are available at $100 each, accessible online, from any LIA board member, and at the Boardwalk Grill.
  • The drawing will take place at the boat show in May.

Winter Icebreaker Dance:

  • Scheduled for February 17th featuring the Shifferly Road Band at Romer’s in Celina.
  • Group tables are priced at $325 for 8 seats and drink tickets, while corporate tables are available for $500, offering priority seating and 40 drink tickets.
  • Attendees will receive a 10% discount on their meal at Bella’s on the night of the dance and a $40 discount on villa rental from Boardwalk.
  • Tickets can be purchased from any LIA member, online, at Romer’s, or at the door.

Ag Update with Theresa Dirksen:

  • Updates provided on the Little Chickasaw treatment, wetlands construction, and ongoing projects.
  • Details about the wetlands work can be found on the website.
  • Pending tasks include pump installation at Big Chickasaw and tree planting in 2024.

Mercer Wildlife Area Update:

  • Phase 3 progress highlighted, including wetlands construction at the old South Bay Motel area and shore stabilization.
  • Budget was $1.7 million with leftover funds allocated to other projects with ODNR.
  • Ongoing efforts include purchasing along Monroe Creek and securing a grant from Clean Ohio for the Redland Nature Preserve.

Drive-It-Yourself Tour:

  • Scheduled for May 4th, offering stops across the county to educate participants about regional conservation efforts.
  • Operating from 9am to 1pm with food and giveaways at each stop.

Two-Stage Ditch Creation:

  • Implemented at privately-owned fields to filter runoff.

State Park Update by Dave Faler:

  • Notable increase in water levels compared to previous years.
  • Updates on annual rainfall and January precipitation.
  • Various events planned for 2024, including the celebration of the Parks and Watercraft 75th anniversary.
  • Campground fully booked for the solar eclipse event.

Grand Lake Rec Club Presentation:

  • Brad Fischer presented on GLRC activities, with materials available on the website or through the meeting video replay.
