The following is excerpted from an email sent to the LIA by Mercer County Historical Society President Joyce Alig, who is requesting financial support for the society's museum.  The museum plays a major role in preserving Grand Lake St. Marys history, and even featured the lake in its popular annual postcard exhibit this year. Please consider lending financial support to help preserve GLSM history.

"I am honored to share with you that I have served Mercer County, Ohio as President of the Mercer County Historical Society, Inc., since January 1973, this year being my fortieth year of working to preserve Mercer County’s rich heritage.  Our Mercer County Historical Society moved the Mercer County Historical Museum exhibits from the Main Street building, to the beautiful Riley Home, at 130 East Market, Celina in 1975.  Over 150,000 Guests have visited this Museum, since 1975.  Our Mercer County Historical Society has published over two dozen local history books with a goal to preserve local history.  The Society has hosted a few hundred lectures on local history and Open Houses at the Museum.

May I ask you for a Christmas present for the Mercer County Historical Society?  Would you please be so generous as to honor this Ohio Bicentennial Proclamation of the Mercer County Commissioners and Mercer County Historical Society, and continue to preserve Mercer County’s History with the leadership of the Mercer County Commissioners and Mercer County Historical Society?  Thank you."
