Heavy rains have created potential dangers on Grand Lake St. Marys for those on and around the lake this week. The Lake Improvement Association advises caution for boaters and those who live and recreate near the lake's shores. Please be advised that:

The lake is currently 21 inches above the overflow notch; flooding is imminent and more rain is to come

Boats have the potential to sink and should be checked for water

Keep in mind most boats were tied at a very different lake level; as the lake rises boats will tip

Large debris is in the lake – including large trees – if you do decide to navigate the waters, extreme caution is recommended
