The City of St. Marys is asking the State of Ohio for help with improving water quality in the Miami-Erie Canal. Mayor Patrick McGowan told Hometown Stations the city wants to add a treatment train similar to those used on Grand Lake St. Marys as well as rip-rap to the canal. McGowan hopes to add the project, estimated to cost around $10 million, to the 2019 state budget.
