Now, swimmers and sunbathers on who live on the south side of Grand Lake St. Marys won't have far to go to have fun in the sun. The Windy Point Beach project was started today, May 7, 2012. The project, funded and operated by the Lake Improvement Association, will restore a beach to the south side of Grand Lake St. Marys at Windy Point.
Riparian rap will be removed from the shoreline, and the land will be graded for a beach slope before being filled with sand. A sign commemorating the re-opening of Windy Point Beach will be placed on-location.
The Lake Improvement Association undertook the Windy Point Beach restoration initiative as part of its mission to enhance the experience of those enjoy Grand Lake St. Marys. The LIA is seeking additional lake improvement ideas, and you can submit your idea by emailing feedback@lakeimprovement.com.
