LIA Executive Board Meeting

Minutes:

Mark Piening welcomed everyone to the members meeting and stood for the pledge of allegiance.

Diana Bertke gave the treasurers report. Diana said there is a balance of $47460.44 in the LIA account.

Stan Wilker Updated the board on the Motown event that was held on February 27th.  Stan said the event which was held at Romers, went well. Stan thanked all the folks who donated silent auction items. Stan also thanked all the music sponsors and corporate table sponsors. Stan is looking forward to next years event already. The membership applauded Stan for his efforts.

Mark Piening talked about the Casino Night that is being held on March 19th. Mark said the event is also at Romers and is being co-sponsored by the Celina Lakefest Committee. At Casino Night there will be a 50/50 drawing, carnival games, hot appetizers, and a DJ amongst other activities. All proceeds are going to help fund the fireworks at Lakefest. Mark said the event begins at 730pm and tickets can be purchased from any LIA or Lakefest board member.

Mark Piening Spoke about the 2015 Membership Drive that starts in April lasting until May 15. Mark said he hopes to have the mailing out on or about April 1. You will receive letter in mail with return envelope, dues are $15 for individual and $25 for business. Mark noted that he looks forward to beating last year’s donation amount along with new memberships.

Renee Lauth from Brushpile Fishing talked about a fish tournament coming to the lake in conjunction with Brushpile Fishing and Crappie USA. The Crappie USA Tournament is being held April 15, 16. Renee Said there are materials including schedules, information on kids scholarship opportunities, and brochures at the meeting and online for anyone looking for more information. Renee said that many local businesses are stepping up and helping with the event and they are hearing a lot of buzz and excitement from all around the area. Renee noted that the event will be televised on WLOSN and NKTelco and folks can also live stream it from NKTelco’s website.

Milt Miller gave the membership the LRC update. Milt showed photos of the Coldwater Creek Treatment Train and said the project is moving along as planned. Milt also showed photos and talked about the Rough Fish Reduction Pilot of which he is very excited about. Milt answered questions regarding the pilot and said he will know more in two weeks when the data comes in. Milt said that once the data is in there will be an opperunity for folks to volunteer and help remove the carp. More to come…

David Faler gave the Lake Update. David said the lake level is -.96” below the spillway notch with the drain open 60’. David said dock fees went out Thursday afternoon. He said there is a new way to pay for the dock fees using the internet. (Directions in the mailing). David said the Grand lake Marathon is taking registrations for runners at their website. David said ODNR is about to begin the new shower house. David noted that waste bags at the dog park are being used at twice the rate as previous years. David asked people to be on the lookout for theft in the dog parks. David ended his time saying that fishing on the lake is unbelievable.

Tom Grabow was not present to give the Grand Lake dredging report but did ask Mark to note that dredging will begin in April.

Francis Springer gave the Ohio Dept. of Agriculture update (SWCD). Francis didn’t have anything newsworthy and asked/answered member questions.

Mark Piening opened the floor for questions.

Jeff Vossler drew the winner of the 50/50.
