The fifth annual Lake Improvement Association Summer Kickoff will be held from 11am to 11pm Saturday, June 22 at the Villa Nova Shelter House on Grand Lake St. Marys. The festival celebrates the return of summer to the lake and promises family fun for everyone! Here are 10 things to love about Summer Kickoff.

1. Live Bands
This year’s event features live music from local legends Free Rider (reuniting for one night!), The One-Eyed Show, Exploit, Fleetwood 2 the Max, Lauren Jean Schroeder and Clare Caywood.

2. World’s Funnest Fun Run/Walk 5K (with COLOR!)
The run/walk welcomes runners and walkers of all ages to enjoy a colorful jaunt along the beautiful East Bank of Grand Lake St. Marys! We have color like a traditional color run, but we also have fun obstacles like a slip ‘n slide, balance beams, hoola hoops, 50-yard dance and more! You can register online or beginning at 9am the morning of the event!

There will be plenty for kids to do at Summer Kickoff, including:
- The LIA playground
- Inflatable obstacles
- Face painting
- Kids games & activities
- Touch A Truck
- K9 demonstration
4. Touch A Truck
Give kids a first-hand look at the equipment used by first responders during the Touch A Truck event (2-4pm)!
5. K9 Demonstration
Check out law dogs in action during this excitement-filled presentation by the St. Marys Police Department and Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office K9 units (3pm)!
6. Cornhole Tournament
Get a partner and enter to win your share of $700 in prizes!
7. Beer Pong Tournament
Cornhole not your style? Want to double your chances of winning? Play in our beer pong tournament – $700 in total prizes!

Summer Kickoff really does offer fun for everyone, and it’s a testament to the Grand Lake St. Marys community that this will be the fifth year for our growing event. Your participation – every spectator, tournament player, family member, and friend – celebrates the spirit of togetherness as we work toward restoring Grand Lake St. Marys. In fact, all proceeds from the event go directly to lake improvement efforts.
