A task force recently determined that Ohio should cutoff phosphorus runoff into Lake Erie by 40 percent to protect against the toxic algal blooms that threaten the ecosystem and economy, according to a Columbus Dispatch article by Theodore Decker.

Lake Erie has faced issues similar to those of Grand Lake St. Marys, where efforts are continually being made to improve the water quality and restore the lake to a wildlife habitate, recreation hub, and economic boost.
