In partnership with the City of St. Marys, Grand Lake St. Marys State Park will dedicate its newest dog park on Saturday, May 25 at 10 a.m. Located along the park’s east bank road, north of the park’s first shelter house.
The new dog park offers two separate areas – one for smaller dogs and one for larger dogs. The state park also offers visitors mutt mitts, disposal cans, drinking water for pets as well as benches for pet owners.
“Since opening the west bank dog park, numerous visitors have requested to construct an additional park on the eastern end of Grand Lake St Marys State Park,” said State Park Manager Brian Miller. “When ODNR learned that the City of St. Marys was considering a dog park, staff reached out to the mayor. By working together we were able to enhance the area.”
Cooperative monies provided the funding for a fence to enclose an area of the new dog park.
The original Grand Lake State Marys dog park was a partnership between the Celina Rotary Club and ODNR. Located along the park’s west bank road, it was dedicated on April 28.
