LIA Membership Meeting

Minutes:

Nick Rentz welcomed everyone to the members meeting and stood for the pledge of allegiance.

Ted Bertke gave the treasurers report.

Brian Morris spoke about the upcoming Summer Kickoff event to be held on June 23rd. Brian said the event features bands including Clark Manson, Nashville Crush, Kaitlyn Schmidt, and In Case of Emergency. There’s also food, kids activities, and more. Brian noted this years’ 5K run will be a 5K Fun Run and be family friendly.

Dave Faler (ODNR) gave the lake update. Dave talked about the new swimming pool at the state park, noting its popularity. He also mentioned the success of Memorial Day weekend. David talked about the new 9 hole putter golf course campers can take advantage of. Dave gave the dredge report for Tom Grabow explaining the plans going through the summer. Nick Rents noted the 1st beach is not open for use.

Tom Knapke spoke about the LRC’s plans to begin the 2nd beach project. He also talked about the Prarrie Creek project and his plans to do a flyover soon.

Adam Highley with Soil and Water/ Ag Solutions introduced himself to the membership. He talked about a project scheduled for 2019 and construction which recently began on another. He talked about several grants and potential grants they’ve applied for and plans for funds if they are awarded.

Brad Fisher with GLSM Rec Club was present to talk about their Annual Bicycle Poker Run to be held on June 9th. Brad said the event has grown over the years and hopes everyone will consider participating. Brad said the proceeds of the event go to aid local establishments. Brad gave a presentation on the Rec Clubs initiative.

Dr. Steven Jacquemin with Wright State University gave a report on his efforts on water quality. Dr. Jacquemin works in the new water quality center and regularly tests the water in different area of the lake. Dr. Jacquemin gave his analysis of those tests. Dr. Jacquemin announced being granted an EPA certification which will be beneficial for many reasons.

Nick Rentz opened the floor for membership’s questions. Jeff Vossler read the 50/50 winner.
