LIA Membership Meeting

Celina, Ohio Moose Lodge

Keith Westrick began the meeting with the pledge of allegiance.

Ted Bertke gave the Treasurer Report. Ted said the checkbook is $58,432.32 and there is $21,896.94 in the St. Marys Foundation.

Breanna Obringer from Boardwalk Village talked about the new development on the Westbank Rd. in Celina. Breanna talked about each vacation rental and the Key West style that is implemented throughout the first phase. She noted there will be an Open House on May 27th for the public to check it out. Along with Breanna, Nikki talked about the Boardwalk Marketplace that will accompany the Boardwalk Village complex.

Theresa Dirksen of Mercer County Soil and Water gave a brief update about some of the projects she is working on. Theresa also talked about the wetland plant purchase program the LIA is helping her with. She said today is the last day to purchase your plant and you can pick them up on Junes 6th at the LIA meeting. She also talked about the water quality efforts being progressed at West Beach.

Officer Jasmine Grossnickle With ODNR Wildlife talked about Birding around Grand Lake. The officer talked about different types of birds and their migration habits and explained why Grand Lake and Lake Erie is an excellent place to go Birding. She noted the websites/app- Birdchaser and E-Bird are good sources for information. She then answered questions from the membership.

Dave Faler gave a lake update. Dave said the lake level is at +6“. Dave said the holidays are booked through the Fourth of July. He talked about some upgrades in restrooms and issues with birds in the shelter houses. He said the crews were finally able to mow the entire park and said there was a repair to the ADA pier completed as well. Dave asked for applicants for lifeguards at the campground pool. Dave gave the Dredge update as well. He said the Hoedag is out of service still due to the pipe being hit by boats 7 times already this year. He said Brutus’s line is fixed and will be working in the Montezuma Bay. He talked about Pump-A-Little’s repairs as well.

Keith Westrick said the Get the Carp Outa Here Tournament will be held on May 14th at 4:00 PM. He also talked about the Bar Stool Open which will be held on August 13th this year.
