The Lake Improvement Association has partnered with multiple community organizations and businesses to purchase and install a new playground adjacent to the dog park toward the south end of the West Bank of Grand Lake St. Marys.

The playground will feature three slides, sky wheels, a crunch bar, a river rock climber, a toadstool climber, an hourglass climber, a double ridge climber, and additional activities for children to play on.

In addition to the LIA, multiple community partners are contributing funding and installation, including Celina Moose, Celina Eagles, Celina Rotary, Celina American Legion, South Shore Sportsman Club, RanDer Advertising, Boardwalk Village, Boardwalk Grill, Celina Kiwanis, and Celina VFW. VTF Excavation is donating installation. The LIA worked with the St. Marys Community Foundation to secure a 100% matching grant from GameTime to fund the project.

“Grand Lake St. Marys State Park has long wanted a playground on the West Bank, so we’re thrilled to be able to provide a new amenity for families to enjoy,” said LIA President Keith Westrick. “We’re impressed and grateful for the level of the community support we received for this project, as many local service organizations and businesses pooled their resources to bring an exciting new amenity to the lake.”

The playground is expected to be installed either this fall or next spring, depending on delivery date and weather, and will be open to the public by next spring.
